New P2P Search Engine, YaCy, Could Be a Threat to Google

I recently found out about YaCy (pronounced Ya-See) from a Chris Pirillo video and what he talked was really intriguing. YaCy is a peer to peer search engine that doesn't have "filter bubbles" (which I previously talked about) that keep out content. Think of it as total access instead of a search engine predicting what you might be looking for based on your demographic, location, previous searches or searching habits, etc. These are all things Google does for advertising purposes.

YaCy is a standalone desktop application that is free and is completely open source. As a side note, I agree with Pirillo, that open source is the future of software. More and more are going to that and that is great! It really is the way to go, as well as peer to peer searching. I'm excited to see where this is going!
